Work Flow

What I was working on

We want to help users with their memory. Making sure they can understand what to do and follow the rules. We want players to go through the story and not get lost in their understanding on what to do next. Also since it’s a text based story I wanted to give them every option to go back and read in case they missed something.

Talk about it

I wanted to make sure users could always go back, either because the mistakenly clicked or changed their mind. To also stop them from skipping choices I removed the next option so they know they would have to pick a choice.

Conclusion

Making sure they always have a BACK button and a NEXT button so that they never feel lost or confused. Also giving them a bigger place to push to get to the next screen.

Also giving the extra text on choices to give them the best idea on how the choice’s outcome may be.

What I changed after feedback

  • Had some things not connected, and some duplicates.

  • I also added a key to help the player know what was in their “inventory”

  • They also talked about a going back to start button from a game over screen

Key idea!

The big thing was when people went a way I didn’t expect and they had to get an item (a key) two times because of the mapping. So I went ahead and made a key icon so that they could see if they had it. Also it helped me with mapping because of the visual reminder. Where the key was at all times.
